Is your website actually making the phone ring?
Six honest questions about your site. You get a grade, the specific things costing you calls, and what to fix first, whether or not you ever use Widgeta.
Your site, honestly
-
Do you have a separate page for each service in each town you cover?
"Water heater repair Mesa" and "drain cleaning Tempe" are different searches. One services page cannot win either.
-
Search your main service plus your town on your phone. Are you on the first page?
This is the whole test. Everything else is a theory about why.
-
Are your license number, insurance and years in business visible without scrolling?
It is the first thing a nervous homeowner checks and the last thing most sites show.
-
Is your phone number tappable on every page, without hunting?
Most visits come from a phone, often mid-crisis. A number that is not a tap-to-call link loses the urgent caller.
-
Are there real photos of your crew, trucks and finished work?
Stock photos read as "this could be anyone." Your own truck reads as "this is a real local shop."
-
Has anything been added to the site in the last three months?
Rankings compound with activity. A site untouched for two years slides while competitors publish.
Why these six questions
A contractor site can fail a dozen technical audits and still book work. It can also pass every speed test and never ring once. These six are the ones that decide whether a stranger with a problem becomes a job on your calendar: search visibility first, then credibility, then the ability to call you in one tap.
The heaviest is the first one, a page for each service in each town you cover. It is also the one almost no trade site has, because building it by hand means dozens of pages and then keeping every one of them current. Everything else on the list you can fix in an afternoon.
Do the real test first. Open your phone, search your main service plus your town, and see whether you are there. That one search tells you more than any grader, this one included.
Questions about the grader
Does this check my actual website?
No, and that is deliberate. It never sees your address, nothing is fetched and nothing is stored. You answer six questions about your own site and the grade is arithmetic on your answers. A crawler could tell you your page speed and your broken tags. It could not tell you whether your license number sits where a nervous homeowner looks, or whether anyone has touched the site since the year it was built. These six are the ones a crawler cannot judge.
Why only six questions?
Because a contractor site can fail a dozen technical audits and still book work, and it can pass every speed test and never ring once. Most longer audits are padding the report. These six are ordered by how much each one moves the phone, and the weighting says so out loud: the two that decide whether you are found at all are worth three points each, the two that decide whether you are called are worth two, and the two that compound over time are worth one.
I scored badly. What do I fix first?
Whatever sits at the top of your list, because the score has already put them in order. The heaviest is almost always the service and town pages, and it is also the slowest to pay off, so start it now and do the quick ones while it builds. A tappable number is fifteen minutes. Your license above the fold is an afternoon. Neither of them needs anybody's permission.
Do I need to hire someone for this?
Four of the six you can do yourself: the tappable number, the credentials, the photographs and the first new page. The service and town grid is the one that defeats most contractors, and not because any single page is hard. It is that there are dozens of them, they each need to be different, and they need to stay current after they are published. That is the part this company exists to do.
Are my answers stored anywhere?
No. There is no form to submit, no email box and nothing sent to a server. Close the tab and the answers are gone with it. If you want to keep the fix list, take a screenshot.
Or skip the list and have it built.
Answer a few questions and the site that passes all six is live today.
